Friday afternoon, I drove up to North Murray Pizza Hut to drop off a uniform for a new employee for Russell. I picked up Subway for lunch then headed home to eat and get Felicity down for a nap. Little did I know that on my way home I would be in a car accident!
I was driving home on Gordon Lane coming up to the turn on to 300 E. I slowed to make a right turn, but as
I began the turn, my car continued straight. I went right through the intersection, up onto the curb, hit the stop sign, and bumped a teenage boy! I swear I was being safe, but that didn't matter. Two police cars, a fire engine, and an ambulance all came; I couldn't believe all that happened! I was really embarrassed and scared! More and more kids kept gathering since I was on their way home from school. Russell was down in Sandy - 20 minutes away. Luckily, he was able to get away and come to me. I was really shaken up. I still feel a bit shaken.
The EMTs checked out Austin and said that he was fine. In the end, he might have a couple bruises. Russell says I gave him more street credit with his friends because they think he is a hero and he has quite the story to tell.
We had my car towed to Russell's brother, Robert. The mechanics found that the fuel pump had died. When the fuel pump died, it cut the assistance to the power steering and also the power brakes. I had tried to turn and even to stop, but without the extra help that my car usually gives me, I continued mostly forward and up onto the curb. I am feeling a little bit cursed. I wonder why this seems to happen to me?
We were very lucky. The car needs some repairs, but I am safe, Felicity is safe, and Austin is alive. Russell was able to get coverage for Friday evening - thanks Heather, Sam, Thomas, and Trent - and stayed home with me.
