Men's basketball has started in our ward so one night after Russ had been at work all day and me and the kids were in the house all day I decided to get the kids all ready for bed and go cheer him on.. felicity cried pretty much the whole time because she wanted her daddy!
The pictures are of them stretching and warming up before the game. She sure loves to play games (including Wii fit) with her dad. Daddy's little buddy..

Detroit 5 months old

Detroit seems so much older to me then only 5 months. This month so far had been pretty tough for him. he got a left ear infection and then the antibiotic upset his little tummy that gave him a terrible diaper rash! Russell got ALOT of ear infections as a child and most of the time he would have no symptoms or signs his mom would see until it was ready to rupture so I worry we could have the same problem with Detroit.
Even with being sick he is still very smiley but is still very hard to get to laugh he is probably thinking HA mom is trying to make me laugh I'll just show her and just maybe if I sit here long enough just staring with no reaction she will leave me alone!! he figured out how to roll from his back to tummy he gets very proud of himself but other times he gets frustrated that he can't get back on to his back. He loves his big sister the amazement in his eyes as he watches her play and the excitement as he looks like he just wants to get up and play too! He does pretty good sitting up by himself until he pushes himself back and tips over. Durning night he still wakes up once or twice to eat. Right after Christmas I started him on oatmeal banana cereal and he LOVES it! He always pulls my hand in toward his mouth but since his eyes coordination isn't perfect he ends up making quite a mess but when the spoon is in his mouth he holds my hand so tight he doesn't want to let the spoon go!! Squalling and smiling the whole time. He is still a cuddle bug and I think is starting to became quite a mommy's boy.

Family night

So I've told myself that I want to start doing better at having family night every Monday night even though it is without Russell. So tonight I decided it was time to cook the cookie mix that our neighbor gave us as a Christmas gift. Yes I know I totally slacked so we made Christmas cookies tonight. Well while they cooked felicity was trying to talk me into turning on Diego and I told her no which I totally regret now because she burned her hand!! I was so frightened I told her to stay back where she was every other time I use the oven she's great she knows to stay back and decently not touch but this time I opened it went to grab the oven mit and at the exact same time she went to grab the pan!!! I couldn't believe it! I swooped her up threw her hand under cold water an then called my friend she came right over with some lavender oil. I keep meaning to by some but just never get it. I wrapped it in a cold towel but she hated that. She just wanted in her blanket. She is in a stage where she carries 4 or 5 with her everywhere, but anyways I finally talked her into letting me get one if her blankets cold and wrap her hand that way. With the help of lots of chocolate I was able to get some tylenol down her and it just broke my heart when she would look a me and say mommy it's not working it still hurts!! It took an hour then she was sitting up talking about Diego as usual so I got her to eat cucumbers, strawberries, and cheese, and of course some cookies awesome dinner right. Well she eventually she fell asleep out on the living room floor. Here's to hoping she sleeps through the night. Well Detroit has gone back to sleep so I should try to but him down and try to get some rest so I hopefully get rid if the cold.. Goodnight

5 months

Well I have this horrible habit of starting post but never get them finished and posted..
As I sit here at 11pm holding Detroit going on 3 hours now trying to get him to sleep I thought would try to catch up on a few things, first, a couple of weeks ago felicity got a cold and was nice enough to give it to Detroit. Yeah NOT cool! Detroit turned 5 months old. Then just when I thought he was doing better, Sunday night he wouldn't sleep and cried all night! I felt hopeless I had no idea what could be wrong he had never cried like that and for all night long EVER! So as soon as the doctor office opened I called I knew something had to be wrong with my little man! But he was full so could not see him! I was so sad NOW WHAT I thought what kinda doctor won't see my child who cried all through the night!! A few minutes later a different nurse called back and said that he would fit me in at 11:15 so we hurried and got ready and dropped Russell off and his class so that we could have the car. When we got to the doctor he had a fever of 101.2. Doctor Jackson came in and said he had been seeing RSV going around so checked that first and everything sounded good so great i thought but he is still screaming! Detroit has a very bad left ear infection he said and gave him so pain killer and wrote up an antibiotic. I was so grateful that he fit him in so that we could get an quick answer because Russell as a child got a bunch of ear infections to where they would almost burst. I just got lucky that Felicity never got an ear infection. But it is hard to tell how Detroit is feeling because he really is so good nature really never complains so I never know when I need to give him Advil but then at night he hates sleeping he will only sleep if someone is holding him! It doesn't matter how tightly he is wrapped or how softly and quietly you put him down he can be completely asleep snoring even and then he always seems to wake up as soon as we put him down!
So during the day he seems fine so even being sick he had figured out how to roll back to tummy and is very proud of himself but doesn't quite have tummy to back yet so gets a little frustrated when trying to play..

Families forever

It's been a hard couple of months for my family first my grandpa Tom( my dads dad) died unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Nov. 22 then Grammy Gayle( my moms mom) died exactly a month later Dec. 22 right after we had a family Christmas party.
Today was grandma gayle's funeral. It was a great winter day to celebrate her life. She was an amazing women. She had real unconditional love for everyone she was always optimistic and always smiling and loved treats and was always handing them out.
How can I be so happy for her to be reunited with her family and grandpa but yet have it hurt so much. I am so grateful she is happy and no longer suffering. During her life she always had to be busy and doing something so having this sickness was so difficult as she forgot how to do everything. She didn't know how to just do nothing. She made all her grandchildren feel loved and important supporting us in what ever we did. I remember her coming to all my dance performances she could. She loved this gospel and she loved teaching in church and teaching school. She had a strong testimony of the power of prayer and say she had a direct line to heaven, and she did for sure!
I am so grateful for this gospel and for the knowledge that I have she is in heaven healed and happy. I will see her again someday. I'm sure she busy serving and teaching others there.
Grammy gayle I hope to live a love filled life just like you. You were as near to perfect as anyone could be I believe -thank you for your example in family life and eternal families. Till we are together again.. I love you so much!
